Dr. David Stanford is a 1988 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing an internship and one year of practice in Pennsylvania, Dr. Stanford moved to the Richmond area and has been in equine practice in this region ever since. He has been with Woodside for 19 years. Dr. Stanford enjoys all aspects of equine practice but after many years in general practice he decided to follow his passion for equine reproduction and became Board Certified in Theriogenology (animal reproduction) in 1997. More recently he has also developed a strong interest in equine podiatry and enjoys working with farriers to help correct problems associated with the horses hoof.
Dr. Stanford grew up in Maryland spending most of his free time at the barn as a hunter and equitation rider or on a field as a soccer player. When his junior riding days were over, he attended the University of Delaware, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. His goal to become a veterinarian started at a very early age because it combines his love of horses, science, and the outdoors. When he isn’t working, Dr. Dave enjoys spending time with his family, watching his kids play volleyball, volunteering at his church, and trying to stay in shape.
