To Our Valued Clients,
With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, we find ourselves taking time to highlight the things we are grateful for despite the tough year that 2020 has been for us all. One thing we know for certain is how thankful we are for each of our clients! We love getting the opportunity to work with you to keep your horses healthy and happy and we are so grateful for your continued patience as we have navigated a pandemic together.
In light of the current rising numbers in COVID-19 cases and the upcoming holiday season, we want to re-focus on our efforts to be a part of preventing the spread of the virus and keeping both our clients and our team healthy. Please help us by adhering to the following guidelines during appointments:
- In accordance with the latest updates from the Governor, we ask that you wear a mask to your appointments, especially if you will need to be within six feet of the veterinarian or staff.
- Please limit the number of people present during appointments to only those that are necessary.
- If you are coming to the clinic, please note that clients will not be permitted inside our main building. Please call the clinic at 804-798-3281 when you arrive. During appointments, clients can meet with the doctors outside to discuss their horse and be present for any portion of the exam taking place outside of the clinic. If any part of the exam or any procedures need to take place inside of the clinic, we will ask that clients wait in their vehicles while the horse is inside the building.
- Please follow the direction of the veterinarian during all appointments, both in the clinic and at the farm. Each appointment will have its own set of variables, but the veterinarian will provide guidance to help everyone present reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
We thank you for helping us to continue to uphold these safety measures and sincerely wish each of you a wonderful holiday season!
From all of us at Woodside

To Our Valued Clients,
First and foremost, we thank each of you for helping us uphold our COVID related safety protocols during our appointments with you and your horses. It has been our pleasure to be able to continue operating throughout these difficult times. As Virginia begins the process of reopening, it remains critical that we continue to follow good safety measures. In compliance with the latest mandate from the governor, we will be wearing masks for all situations that do not allow for adequate social distancing. All clients that will be present for appointments, both in the clinic or on the farm, should also plan to wear a mask.
For Farm Visits: Please follow the direction of the veterinarian when they arrive at the farm as each situation will have its own variables. When a veterinary assistant is working with the veterinarian, we will have the assistant holding horses for exams and procedures and ask that you do not enter the stall while the veterinarian is in the stall unless they ask for your assistance. During emergency calls where you and the veterinarian may need to be working less than 6 feet apart from each other, we ask that you wear a mask.
For Clinic Visits: In an effort to keep our team safe, we are asking that clients do not enter the main office building. If your horse is coming in to one of our exam rooms, we ask that no more than one person come into the exam room with the horse and stand near the back wall while our team is working on your horse. If you are entering any of our exam rooms, please wear a mask. The veterinarian in charge of your case will provide direction during your appointment.
Picking up medications/dropping off samples: Call ahead for anything that you need to pick up or drop off at the clinic. Payment can be made over the phone via credit card. The front door to the clinic is locked. Please call 804-798-3281 and a staff member will bring the medication to you or come pick up the sample from your car.
We appreciate your understanding of our efforts to uphold these safety protocols. We wish you and your loved ones (two legged and four legged) good health!

To Our Valued Clients,
We are thinking of all of you during these challenging times we are facing and hoping you are each hanging in there and getting an opportunity to spend some quality time with your horses! Here at Woodside, we have been hard at work to continue to provide nearly all of our normal services, including scheduled farm visits and clinic appointments, as well as emergency calls. We remain committed to doing as much as we can for as long as we can and continue to implement our safety protocols to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We ask that you continue to help us in these efforts so that we can do our part to keep both you and our team safe and healthy.
For Farm Visits: Please have only one person present for farm visits. Please follow the direction of the veterinarian when they arrive at the farm as each situation will have its own variables. When a veterinary assistant is working with the veterinarian, we will have the assistant holding horses for exams and procedures and ask that you do not enter the stall while the veterinarian is in the stall unless they ask for your assistance. During emergency calls where you and the veterinarian may need to be working less than 6ft apart from each other, we ask that you wear a mask.
For Clinic Visits: In an effort to keep our team safe, we are asking that clients do not enter the building. We will have assistants available to hold your horse for exams and procedures. If your horse is coming in to one of our exam rooms, we ask that no more than one person come into the exam room with the horse and stand near the back wall while our team is working on your horse. At the recommendation of the American Association of Equine Practioners and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, we are limiting procedures requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment to urgent procedures only. We will proceed with elective surgeries on a case by case basis, please call the clinic to discuss your horse’s needs.
Sincerely,
The Woodside Team
- If you or anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms or illness, please let our office know prior to your appointment. We will have technical staff to help minimize contact with clients and appointments can be arranged to be done without you leaving your house. We can communicate the exam findings and treatment plan with you on the telephone and follow up with emailed notes.
- Farm Appointments: If you have an appointment at your home or barn, we will continue to take care of your horses, but will practice social distancing and eliminate person to person contact. Please limit the number of people present for the appointment to one, stand six feet apart when possible, and allow our technical staff to handle the horses for exams and procedures.
- Office appointment:. When you arrive at the clinic please stay in your vehicle and call 804-798-3281 to let us know that you are here. Someone will come out to meet you and assist you and your horse to a stall. Our staff is working diligently to socially distance from people and we are therefore limiting the number of non-employees inside of the clinic. For any appointments that require the horse to be inside one of our exam rooms, we will be asking that no more than one person accompanies the horse. We have added a new port-o-john in our parking lot for any clients needing to use the restroom while they are at the clinic. We also have a picnic table waiting area if you do not wish to wait in your vehicle.
- Picking up medications/dropping off samples: Call ahead for anything that you need to pick up or drop off at the clinic. Payment can be made over the phone via credit card. The front door to the clinic will be locked. Please call 804-798-3281 and a staff member will bring the medication to you or come pick up the sample from your car.
