Lauren MacDonald, DVM
Dr. Lauren MacDonald graduated with a degree in Animal Science from Middle Tennessee State University, and obtained her DVM at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Following veterinary school, she completed an internship at Brandon Equine Medical Center in Florida. She then proceeded to Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts to pursue a specialty surgical internship, staying there for an additional 3 years to complete a large animal surgical residency.
Dr. MacDonald’s main areas of interest are sports medicine and general surgery. Her research focused on the ultrasonographic assessment of the distal sesamoidean impar ligament and factors affecting the prognosis of small intestinal colic surgery. She is passionate about teaching and continued learning.
Dr. MacDonald grew up on a working farm and played soccer throughout her youth, where she learned the importance of hard work and responsibility. As a new Virginia resident, she spends her free time with her husband, Tony, and golden retriever, Remington, exploring the beauty that Virginia has to offer. They enjoy the outdoors together while mountain biking, hiking, camping, and snowboarding.
